Gandhidham Palanpur Gauge Conversion Project

Gauge conversion was being implemented by Kutch Railway Company Ltd. which is SPV. GIDB role in the project was in project’s financial structuring and co-ordination with the stakeholders. Phase I of the project i.e., Gauge Conversion between Samakhiyali-Palanpur 9248 km.) was commissioned in March 2006 and was inaugurated for freight traffic on 24.3.2006. Phase II comprising laying of additional track between Samakhiyali and Gandhidham (53 km.) has also been completed by 2006. The details of the project are :

Length of the rail track	312 Km.
Landed Project	Rs.500 Cr.
Equity	Rs.200 Cr.
Debt	Rs.300 Cr.

Gauge conversion of Bhildi-Samdari stretch has also been included in the same SPV, i.e., Kutch Railway Company Ltd.

GIDB has prepared a consolidated report on requirement of Railways projects based on various secondary sources of information obtained from Ministry of Railways & Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. and has considered the project list prepared by M/s.
