Structure and Role

Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board is a statutory organization created under GID Act 1999.

The board is chaired by the Chief Minister and has other Ministers and Secretaries as members.

GIDB looks into overall planning and implements framework studies. It achieves all its goals due to impeccable coordination between various sectoral departments. Conceiving infrastructure projects, developing and preparing them are all part of GIDB's role.

GIDB also conducts pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for various projects. Selection of developer is done through a transparent process and all Concession Agreements are framed and approved before execution.

The progress of projects under GIDB is monitored with care. GIDB also advises the Government on policies on infrastructure. GIDB contributes to capacity building amongst Government agencies and their staff. It is also open to taking help of outside agencies and multilateral institutions. Administering the viability gap fund on behalf of the State Government is another role in GIDB.
