In 2015-16, non-major ports of Gujarat handled a total cargo of 340 MMTPA. This was 32% of total cargo handled by Indian ports. Gujarat leading position in cargo handling is significantly attributable to the Sikka and Mundra Ports.
Sikka is located on South of the Gulf of Kutch and has the highest throughput in India due to crude oil handled for Reliance refinery at Jamnagar. Sikka handled 125.2 MMTPA cargos of which 90% is crude oil and other Petroleum- Oil-Lubricants (POL) commodities.
The Gujarat ports capacity has increased from 135 MMTPA in 2001-02 to 466 MMTPA in 2015-16. Gujarat non major ports traffic increased to 340 MMT, growing by CAGR of 8 % in last 6 years.
